The Coast Guard Auxiliary as a Volunteer Fire Department Group serving as a free force multiplier force.
The coast guard auxiliary is and has been a big force multiplier for the full time coast guard. My thoughts are if we have a major disaster as in these wild fires they can also volunteer provided they are trained within NFPA standards, qualify to participate physically and mentally and have the willingness to volunteer. The benefits would be great.
First there is not cost to the government we are volunteers, it provides a large force multiplier with a wealth of resources and we could remove the strain of the first responders that are working around the clock. What we request in exchange is the proper training and a system that allows us to be called up to volunteer.
This would be beneficial not only for wildfires, natural disasters but also a major terrorist attack here in the US where out resources are limited. It would give us large numbers of trained persons ready to step up to the mark on a whim.
Something to think about.....it’s free and helpful
